I have been playing brass instruments for 25 years (had to think about that one!), starting on Cornet, Baritone, Bb Bass, then Eb Bass
I started in school bands and Saturday morning music school, then when I left I joined Harworth Brass Band for 12 years,
Killamarsh Silver Band, now currently with The Melton Band in Melton Mowbray and have been for 6 years.
My favourite brass band pieces are The Day Thou Gavest and Light Walk.
The Melton Band Helen Clifton
I've been playing a brass instrument since I was 11. I started on the tenor
horn and then moved onto Eb Bass. In the past I have played in wind bands
and orchestras but my favourite is to play with brass bands. I've played
for Wirral School's Brass Band, Lyceum Brass Band, Portsmouth City Brass
Band and since moving to Northampton I've played with Moulton 77 Brass
Band.

I learnt to play in 1995 at Loxley Silver band which is a training band where I had taken my son to learn to play cornet. On learning that I could read music and had an estate car they presented me with a BBb bass!
In 1999 I was asked to help City of Sheffield Band out for the 3rd section area contest. This was a revelation to me and the contesting bug had bitten.
After this I joined Oughtibridge where I was moved onto EEb bass. Since then I have played for Chapeltown Silver and Strata Brass, and am currently at Stannington Brass. I have also played with several orchestras and wind bands and now play for the Silver Spectrum wind band based in Sheffield
I first played for Boobs & Brass in Jan 2007 after replying to an appeal for a bass player on themouhpiece.com. Since then I have played for many of the concerts, one Whit Friday and the CD. I have played either BBb or EEb bass and really don’t mind which as long as I can have the privilege of playing with such a wonderful group of players for such a worthy cause.
I had breast cancer myself in 2004 so Boobs & Brass has an extra special meaning to me.

Joined Amington Band in 1985 on Eb Bass and played with them progressing from the fourth section up to the first section. I left in 1995 due to young family commitments but returned in 2006 to help out at the Area Contest and have been there since!
Amington Band Alison Pearce
Alison currently plays for Meridian Winds in Southampton, and has been playing tuba since she was thirteen.
She has played with Cosham Concert Brass (Portsmouth), local orchestras, wind bands and pit bands for the 'Amateur Dramatics' - including the 'on-stage' band in the musical Chicago, which was put on at college. Alison says 'playing at the Whit Friday Marches in 2008 was probably the most memorable and surreal occasion I have ever played in!'
