2011 Engagements
19th November at the Lighthouse Theatre, Kettering
Rhapsody and Brass
What a great combination – the wonderful ladies of Rhapsody Chorus and our very own “Boobies” – together they brought the house down on Saturday evening at our sixth annual concert in Kettering.
The 4 part harmony acapella group from Peterborough, under their Musical Director Helen Glavina
performed their six numbers in sparkling style.
.
Then we had Jane`s nephew – Jon Baish, who dedicated his rendition of “Cry Me a River” to his mum (who had no idea that he was doing this) and his dad. What can we say – he was fantastic – well done Jon!
We are already looking forward to the next time!
And of course the “Boobies” – all 48 of them under the direction of John Hudson.
With our second CD hot off the press we were all keen to perform some of the numbers from it and encourage our 300+ audience to rush off and buy one – and they did – Glenis and Cheryl could not keep up - 150 were sold and we are pleased to announce that the first donation from this has been sent to BCC to help the researchers to be another step towards finding a cure.
We even had a real life `ugly duckling` and a beautiful swan who almost had to appear unfeathered due to a mishap with her costume – thank goodness for Tescos!!.
YMCA saw most of the audience out of their seats trying to keep up with Carolyn`s moves and had only rested briefly when Jon and Rhapsody joined the band on stage for a very moving “You'll Never Walk Alone” with everyone joining in – brilliant!
The amazing raffle organised by Rachael Brudenell with 36 prizes raised £400 which greatly helped towards raising at least £2500 on the night - without the CD sales.
Not a bad night`s work . Thank you to everyone who helped to achieve that and thank you to our audience for being there and continuing to support “Boobs & Brass”.
