Cheryl & Glenis
I have never played a brass instrument but played the piano when I was younger.
I come from a brass banding family with my father, grandfather and uncle all playing the cornet. They were members of the Raunds Temperance band who at that time were a championship section band, playing in the Midland Areas where they reached the finals at the Royal Albert Hall.
My son, Steve, plays soprano cornet for the Kibworth band.
I have been helping out with brass bands ever since I can remember and enjoy it very much.  I was involved with Raunds Temperance Band for a number of years in a variety of roles including the fundraising committee.
I have also made some fantastic friends along the way and long may it continue. Am fondly known by the boobies as Grannie Tart!

I have never played a brass instrument but played the piano when I was younger and have been a soloist for many years. I like most types of music but if finances had allowed, would have loved to become an opera singer.
I come from a musical family. My father was a well known soloist and a great friend of  Lt. Col. ‘Jiggs’ Jaeger who was Musical Director of the Irish Guards Band and of course Black Dyke, so I was brought up from a very young age in the world of brass and military bands. My brother was also involved in brass bands as the secretary for the John White Footwear Brass Band.
I really got involved with banding when my son, Gareth, who is a Bb Bass player became a founder member of Youth Brass 2000. My husband was the Chairman for a short time and I was the Secretary. I then became the librarian and eventually ‘retired’ when Gareth became too old to play in Youth Bands.
When he joined Raunds Temperance Band I became part of the fundraising committee together with Cheryl, Keith and Maggie Betts and am still a Trustee of the Band. Cheryl and myself went to the same schools and met up again when both our boys played for Raunds Temps.
I ‘retired’ from banding until I was approached by Maggie to run the tombola etc at the first Boobs concert and as they say the rest is history.
I feel very honoured to be a small part of this fantastic group of ladies and will do all in my power to keep raising funds for such a worthwhile cause. Am fondly known by the boobies as Posh Tart (don’t ask me why!).
