'Boobs and Brass'

Supported by First Choice Holidays

Northamptonshire's First ALL Female Brass Band!

Kettering Parish Church.

Our VERY FIRST charity concert - held at the Parish Church in Kettering on Saturday 30th September at 7.30pm.

All proceeds were divided between the 'Breast Cancer Campaign' and the 'Opthalmic Ward' at Kettering Hospital.

The Concert programme selected took into account the limited rehearsal time. It featured a solo with a difference - performed by Jo Bird, an original work annd a piece by one of Northamptonshire’s most renowned composers, Sir Malcolm Arnold, who was to have celebrated his 85th birthday this year, but who, sadly, passed away in September.

Programme:

March - Punchinello (W. Rimmer).

Overture - Die Felsenmuhle (Reissiger, arr. D. Rimmer).

A Whiter Shade Of Pale (Booker & Reid, arr. Gay).

Cornet Solo - Carrickfergus (Trad. arr. Fernie) - Soloist: Kay Hollingsworth.

I Got Rhythm (Gershwin, arr. Fernie).

Chorale Prelude - 'Deep Harmony' (Handel Parker, arr. D. Wright).

Mack & Mabel (Herman, arr. Wilkinson).

 -- Interval --

March - Boobs & Brass (Brian Saunders).

'Siciliano' from Little Suite for Brass - No. 1 (Arnold).

Recorder Solo (Yes...really!) - Grandfather's Clock - Soloist: Jo Bird.

Mack The Knife (Weill & Brecht, arr. Hall).

I Will Follow Him (Stole, Roma. Plante, arr. Richards) - featuring Lisa Adams (Flugel), Jo Bird (Trombone), Elaine Hanson (Trombone) & Sally Bruce (Trombone).

Tone Poem - Finlandia (Sibelius).

The aim was to raise £500 for each charity, but in the end a 'WAPPING' £4400 was raised - with each charity to get at least £2200 - WELL DONE ALL!
